Cynthia has been a Floridian half of her life, working and raising a family here. Five years ago, she found her heart belonged to NSB. Her education, career and leadership experience put her in a unique position to be an effective Commissioner serving all of New Smyrna.
Cynthia believes we can get ahead of our infrastructure and growth challenges with workable, enduring solutions when we:
Focus on the needs of residents and local businesses
Listen respectfully to every voice, hearing more than words
Collaborate with stakeholder groups — early and often
Follow through on commitments made
It would be my honor to earn your trust, your vote, and to serve as your Commissioner. Please consider voting for me in the August 18th Primary so that we can work together to secure a family-friendly, vibrant, sustainable and financially secure place we love to call “home”.
Ready on Day 1
Cynthia Sniezak
For New Smyrna Beach Commissioner, Zone 2
Meet Cynthia
Experience starts with showing up.
You may recognize me as a regular speaker during public participation in City meetings and workshops. I attended or watched every Commission and Planning & Zoning meeting for the past five years — every one — diving deep into each agenda and learning how our City's government and staff worked.
My career experience helped me learn the business of government, and it will enable me to apply all of this to help our City find enduring solutions to our pressing challenges. Experience starts with showing up, and I am already doing that for you!
I put myself through school at Western New England University in Massachusetts. The first half of my career was Financial Services, doing analysis and writing software.
Later career moves brought me to Florida, where as a professional Disney Cast Member, I worked on large projects. These ranged from Y2K readiness, to reviewing $100M budgets, to establishing an IT Academy to train Cast project managers, business analysts, and developers in North America.
I then started a consulting business advising Florida and other DOTs on improving back office operations and revenue capture before retiring to New Smyrna in 2021. I've been a proud Floridian for 29 years.
Priorities
Our city leaders need to ask better questions and get better answers prior to important votes.
Anticipate Infrastructure Needs
Growth, flooding, traffic, and other challenges are easier to prevent than fix after the fact. We need to get in front of issues, not chase them down after they become expensive problems.
Adequate infrastructure comes first. Shovels turning dirt then follows.
Sensible Growth
All growth is not good growth. Following and enforcing ordinances, addressing building regulations, improving builder contracts and inspecting for compliance all reflect good policy.
As a Commissioner, I will get answers before voting on land development questions and amendments. Before land requests are approved, leaders should ask whether the decision fits NSB’s vision, meets all guidelines, and can exist with available land and water resources.
Financially Secure NSB
Cynthia will work for sound decisions that preserve the community that residents love, while supporting homeowners, local businesses, and long term stability.
Our leaders need better answers before voting:
Does the land request meet our guidelines?
Will the decision result in growth that ages well?
Does it fit our NSB vision, or does it dominate it?
Can it exist with available land/water resources?
